SUU Mountain Center

Watson Engineering was commissioned to design a new deck system that could function as a large gathering place for visitors to Southern Utah University's Mountain Center. The new design needed to be in keeping with the existing architecture of the original Mountain Center.

Watson gathered existing condition dimensions from the cabin and the existing deck. Additionally, Watson provided site observation, structural engineering, and special inspections during the construction of the new deck system. It was a welcome challenge to create such a large deck—one that would be beautiful, functional and also support the snow that gathers during the winter season.
