Meet the Watson Engineering Team: Carolina Peterson

The duties of an office manager are as diverse as our full-service company itself. That’s why Carolina Peterson is such a valuable team member.

She found Watson Engineering Company in a pretty straightforward way – firm president Tim Watson was her neighbor. And besides Tim, no one knows the ins and outs of WEC departments and clients better than Carolina.

Managing an all-inclusive civil engineering firm means answering a lot of phone calls and emails, setting up projects, as well as processing invoices and payments. A self-starter, Carolina also coordinates most of the materials testing for WEC residential projects. She regularly fields calls from clients to gather relevant data for testing projects. Our clients also rely on Carolina to upload needed documents to a variety of jurisdictions in a timely manner. It’s no wonder she’s known for her organizational skills, willingness to learn, and attention to customer service.

Like her coworkers, Carolina takes great pride in the work she does and in exceeding expectations. “I believe internal coordination meetings are the key to our ability to consistently meet and exceed client needs,” she states. “I participate in internal kick-off meetings where we discuss due dates, city meetings, submittals, project manager assignments, and staff workloads.” Carolina also attends project management meeting where leaders give updates on current projects, discuss potential opportunities, and review company financials. “These regular check-ins keep us all in the loop so we can help one another with deadlines, tasks, and communications.”

Having a front-row seat for the engineering and construction of the 13-acre Old Sorrel Ranch Subdivision has been particularly rewarding for Carolina. The development is being constructed next to her neighborhood and she has enjoyed seeing this subdivision project come to life. “From drawings to the submittal process to approvals, I’ve learned so much about our business. It’s been fun and educational for me,” she says.

It’s easy to feel and hear Carolina’s passion for her office manager role, the firm, and her coworkers. “I want our clients to know we truly care about their projects and concerns,” she affirms. “We work hard every day to make client ideas a reality.”
