Geotechnical Services: The Base for Your Building Project
Precise, accurate results help busy Southern Utah builders stay on schedule
Southern Utah contractors are well aware of the essential steps needed to ensure their projects are built on strong, sound foundations. The accuracy of geotechnical testing, results and reporting is crucial because the data will be referred to throughout design and construction. The best way to reduce potential risks is to contract with a geotechnical firm that understands the behavior of soils and gives recommendations for site preparation and corrective measures to mitigate subsurface risks.
Project Management
The soils of Southern Utah are complicated and understanding their challenges takes experience. Watson Engineering’s team of skilled engineers and technicians is the key to make sure we provide end-to-end solutions for the most complex construction projects.
Our Geotechnical Engineer, Brian Amos, PE, is well versed in the intricacies of both soil compaction and consolidation. From small homes to skyscrapers, Brian has worked on a wide variety of structures across the country. Sometimes solutions are more obvious than others, but Brian’s depth of experience allows him to recognize when a less obvious solution might minimize construction surprises.
Watson’s in-house staff of technicians provide us the ability to quickly switch focus from one task to another, which means contractors receive testing results rapidly. Project managers make it a priority to coordinate schedules and sample collections with excavation contractors carefully. Planning helps keep the excavation contractor on schedule and reduces the need for additional sample collections due to error.
Cutting-edge Technology
As one of the first engineering firms in the region to utilize electronic data sheets, Watson Engineering utilizes mobile devices to consult on and plan for construction materials testing. Rather than rely on paper filing with jurisdictions, as is common practice, Watson Engineering developed proprietary software that notifies team members when compaction tests are completed and available to be forwarded to the respective client and jurisdictional authority. Additionally, the software creates electronic data sheets that our team can access from our mobile devices. This technology saves time and decreases errors.
Quality Reporting
Our in-house testing lab utilizes a proprietary, automated system for compaction testing results. Our lab typically provides 25 testing results for every report, and multiple sets of results are sent out daily. By providing precise, accurate results, we help busy Southern Utah builders stay on schedule.
